The Lancaster B Mk.III Dambuster in 1/32 scale by HK Models depicts a specially modified version of the famous British Avro Lancaster heavy bomber used in Operation Chastise in May 1943. This mission, carried out by the RAF's 617 Squadron, aimed to destroy key German dams in the Ruhr using innovative "bouncing bombs" developed by Barnes Wallis.
The Lancaster Mk.III Dambuster differed from the standard version by removing the lower turret, adding special stabilising structures and modifying the bomb bay to carry the unique Upkeep swivel bomb. The aircraft operated at low altitudes to ensure bombing accuracy, making the operation an extremely dangerous undertaking. Despite heavy losses, the mission demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach and boosted the morale of the Allied forces.
The 1/32nd scale model offers precise detailing of the cockpit, engine nacelles, landing gear and bomb bay, including the ability to depict the unique "bouncing bomb". A great choice for modelers interested in iconic British bombers and WWII special operations.
Package does not include paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
